Personality: Edith is a well-known and well-liked figure in Gwangi. She has stitched up, cut open, midwifed, and treated almost every citizen of the town and the surrounding area, dealing with everything from dysentery to trampled limbs. In general she is confident, positive, and very friendly, and she gets along well enough with most people that they’ll usually overlook her occasional unfeminine habits of drinking, gambling, and of being 33 years old and unwed. At least, they don’t usually mention it to her face. She does, however, have a very low tolerance for recklessness and displays of machismo. Get hurt legitimately and she will do everything she can to fix you up as comfortably as possible, but put yourself in danger for a reason she finds stupid and she'll find all the quiet, understated ways she can to make sure you know she disapproves; thin pillows, weak anesthetic, sub-par food (she’s not really the best chef in the first place but she’ll usually make sure the corn is chewable at least.) In that way she can be pretty judgmental -- she is a champion of common sense. The idea of the tournament, which puts her town in danger as well as putting people in harm’s way on purpose, makes her pretty grumpy. She’s inclined to think the competitors are stupid, too, but her actual friendly nature isn’t hard to appeal to.
Edith is used to the incredulity and distrust people have when they first hear that she’s a female doctor, and the disappointment in the fact that she's pretty much the only option for medical treatment for fifty miles in any direction, but she can shrug that off pretty easily. Unless someone is outright disrespectful to her, she’ll silently try to change their opinion by being good at her job. Which she is. Unphased by gore, deft with a bonesaw, and knowledgeable with both modern medicine and a lot of the techniques used by Native Americans, she can fix most illness and injury presented to her.

History: Born in Virginia, Edith craved a little more independence than she foresaw in her future at home. Inspired by her father’s successful medical practice, she travelled out west at the age of seventeen to attend school at a new medical college that admitted women. She did well and eventually landed in the town of Gwangi, where, through general competence, she managed to earn the respect of the town and a good reputation in the area, which newcomers tend to disbelieve until they get their leg squashed by a triceratops and she has to amputate it for them.

Gender: Female
Species: Ankylosaurus
Height: 1.7m/5’7”
Misc: Flora can come off as grumpy to people who aren’t used to her, but she’s pretty calm and laidback. She will lay down on command for Edith to hop onto the saddle and to access her medical supplies. Often she’ll be hooked up to a small cart that acts as an ambulance, and has been taught how to make her way back home so that Edith doesn’t have to concentrate on driving the cart when treating someone. She’s not the fastest dinosaur, but she’s extremely reliable and generally unshakeable.

Misc: Jake is quirky and occasionally annoying, but the little pterosaur has thoroughly attached himself to Edith and she enjoys his company too much to get rid of him. Usually seen perched on her shoulder or attached to an eave or wall somewhere.
